Very 1st blog entry, Crossing Brooklyn Ferry

In class we started reading a story by Whitman called "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry". We started reading it in class. I am from New York and have had the pleasure of crossing the Hudson river on many occasions. I guess I have done it so often that I have took for granted all of the beautiful details that Whitman describes in this poem/ story. It is truly an amazing ride to take if you ever have the chance. Some of the language that Whitman uses is not simple and he is very repetitive. It was not until Mr. Simpson translated for us did it start to become clear what Whitman was saying and describing.
